Pony Party!

We have the best family ever!  They were so kind to throw Addy a pony birthday party, while celebrating Andy's birthday and the birth of our baby (soon to be here at the end of October!).  We had so much fun playing games and enjoying yummy food!  Addy was in heaven with her family, ponies, and birthday cake!

Book Vandal

Yesterday night, Addy was reading "The Cat in the Hat" by herself and at the end of the story came across some artwork on the last pages.  This is how the conversation went...

Addy:  "Mommy, who drew in the book?"

Mom:  "I don't know who drew in the book.  We don't draw in books, do we."

Addy:  "Who drew in it Mommy?"

Thinking that Addy or Emery may have drawn in the book and wanting to take advantage of a teaching moment, I go in to take a closer look at the pages.

Mom:  "Oh....I know who drew in your book..."  (see below)

Yes, that's right, I was the book vandal!!  So much for a teaching moment.  :-)

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

We kicked off our Cinco De Mayo with ballet lessons for Addy and Emery.  The girls have been looking forward to "ballet school" for weeks.  Addy immediately started stretching and getting ready for lessons, while Emery loved looking in the mirrors.  We thought we would wait to sign-up Emery to see how she responded to the class atmosphere and she did great!  She especially enjoyed chatting with the teacher and was the most talkative one there.  Addy intently took in everything her teacher said and loved the cute games they played.

After ballet lessons we rushed home to catch the Cinco De Mayo parade that comes right down our street.  The girls were so excited to see all the decorated floats, dancers, horses and of course for the loads and loads of candy that was thrown to us!!!  It was like Halloween all over again!  It sure is fun living in the downtown area among all the events and excitement that goes on!!
Happy Cinco De Mayo!!!

Homemade Waterslide

It's April and already getting very hot here in Texas, so we made our own little homemade waterslide.  We even enjoyed a little jazz music during our swim party from the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival just a few blocks away.  Every once in a while Emery would take a break from the pool to practice her dance moves on the driveway.  Let the joys of summer begin!

Races and Birthdays

Today was a fun-filled day for the family. We started off the morning doing a race together. The weather was absolutely perfect for a run--overcast with a few sprinkles! Andy and I took turns pushing the girls in the stroller and even let Addy out to run with us for a little bit. She loved leading the pack and actually set a very fast pace for us! I think she'll be a good little runner one day! The girls loved the cheering at the finishing line and there were even a group of people cheering for Emery in the stroller saying, "Go Baby Go!"

Then we cleaned up and headed off the the girls favorite historical landmark in Denton, just down the street from our house--the county Courthouse!! Today the county was celebrating it's 166th birthday at the courthouse with cake, games, displays, antique car shows, and more! The girls love parties and love the Courthouse so this was definitely their event.

We're also excited to be celebrating a special birthday of a new arrival coming around October 27th this year.

Pumpkin Patchin' it Texas Style

Last weekend we took the girls, and Sarah and Jeffrey, our cousins, to a pumpkin patch! Although we are finally getting fall-like temperatures the last few days, last weekend at the patch it was 90 degrees!!!! We were definitely not prepared for that! Normally you associate a hay ride with being chilly, but it was quite the opposite--we we're sweating! Despite the hot temperatures, we still had a fun time picking out pumpkins! And, the highlight of the trip had to be Addy Jane riding a pony!! She's been into My Little Pony lately, so this experience was especially exciting!!
When we ask Emery to smile lately, she puts everything she's got into it!

Such a regal pose!

Happy Five Year Blind Date Anniversary!

On October 14, 2006, Andy and I met on a blind date. We went to a concert and afterward met up at a friend's house to decorate sugar cookies. So every year we decorate sugar cookies as a fun way to remember when we met! This has become one of our family's favorite traditions! While we were waiting for the cookies to cool, Andy and I were cleaning up the kitchen. The girls were trying their hardest to wait patiently, but kept coming over to the table where the cookies were cooling and fussing because they couldn't have them yet. After a few minutes passed we noticed how quiet the house was and everyone knows when toddlers are quiet that they're up to something. Andy went to check on the girls and found them both happily sitting by the couch eating two heart-shaped sugar cookies! They've gotta be the cutest little cookie thieves I've ever seen! I'm so grateful for my sweet little family and especially to have met my most amazing husband 5 years ago!

I pulled this from the photo archives! :-) This was from an 80's date night! (Thanks again Aimee for helping me pull this awesome outfit together!)
